About

Hi, I’m Stephanie and I write Shakara Natural Tips.

My main purpose at this time is to review all natural beauty; skin and hair care products that contain no chemicals, no parabens or toxins. I would be taking an in-depth look at ingredients used in cosmetics, skin & hair products, sharing what to use – or not to use – for the skin.

After several years of studying and working in corporate media/communications as well as in the fair trade industry, I am passionate about taking a more holistic attitude & interest in studying organic beauty and skin care.

IN THE MEDIA

Shakara Natural Tips started as a small blog by Yemi Stephanie Wellhauser in December 2011 and since then it has become an award winning site, collected dedicated readers and grown in popularity. Yemi is not only a writer but she has also spearheaded and been involved in many other projects that have been recognized in the media and are featured on this site. Since tooting her own horn is not her style the Team at Shakara Natural Tips thought we would do it for her!

This ambitious lady has worked with and had articles featured in newspapers such as The Irish Times, Metro Eireann and The Interobang, as well as in her own home town of Toronto in Neighbourhood Living Magazine.

She has hosted and co-ordinated the Celebration of Curls event which was featured in Essence Magazine, NOW, as well as SNAP Toronto and welcomed speakers such as celebrity hairstylist Felicia Leatherwood and Jerê Reid of Nappturally Chic and prominent filmmakers like Zina Saro Wiwa and Cynthia Butare.

Yemi makes a statement in whatever way she can and has personally worked on four different films as well, one of them being the documentary ‘Protecting Our Children’ which won the Chris Dotty Memorial award in 2008 along with a cash prize. She has been featured on CBC, CUIT FM, Faces USA, The Grid, Toronto's Metro newspaper and Slice TV’s program ‘The Mistress’ in 2012 (get your mind out of that gutter and watch the clip :P).

Want to catch some interviews? You can watch her giving an interview at Harbourfront Center or listen to a podcast on Women’s Movement Radio. Take a moment and have a look at some of the links that feature Yemi’s work and see what this veracious lady is all about!
